D. W. Barsby

1.8

D. W. Barsby in Hinckley has been serving patients for many years, with a long-standing reputation in the community. The practice is known for its professional team and polite staff, with some patients reporting positive experiences with their dentists. However, there have been inconsistencies in service quality, particularly with appointment scheduling and follow-up care, which have led to dissatisfaction among some patients.

While the practice has been a go-to for NHS patients, there are concerns about efficiency and the standard of care provided. Some patients have reported long waits, poor communication, and subpar treatment outcomes. Potential patients should consider these factors when choosing a dental provider in the area.

Booked in for £3k worth of private work before the lockdown and given a temporary denture, then all appointments canceled due to covid. Never got in contact with me once they reopened to rebook. When I finally contacted them, they cancelled my appointment on the day it was due, making me wait 6 more weeks for another appointment. Over 2 years now with a wonky, temporary denture that makes my teeth look terrible and all they give you is excuses. Will be looking for another dentist. Can't even get these guys to treat you when you are willing to pay privately, let alone on the NHS!!

I've been at the practise 20 years my dentist was amazing. He left just after lockdown the replacement dentist well all I can say is after 3 paid appointments over 3 months of agony he could not see the issue. He did ask another dentist to look and the other dentist could see one of the issues and told him step by step how to fix it which my dentist refused to do. Im not sure if my dentist is blind or very little experience but he should be removed from treating patients he made the pain 6 times worse than it was . I've just been seen by another NHS dentist 15 minutes instant diagnosis top and bottom teeth cracked. Treatment the following day. To top it off The receptionist staff are rude I was told you'll have to wait 6 weeks as we don't like NHS! 1 star is too many stars zero stars or negative I'm so disgusted with my Treatment here AVOID!

The only dentist in the area that was taking on new NHS patients when we moved to the area. They never run on time. Do not bother turning up for your actual appointment. Save yourself the 30-40min wait. All they’re after is your signature on the form to claim their payment. The actual checkup was less than 2 minutes. There’s 5 staff on reception, however you have to queue to speak to one of them as the other 4 are far too busy to acknowledge you in the queue. My guess is that they overbook, rack em pack em stack em!! £££. Service, care and manners aren’t on the training program. If you have a choice to go anywhere else. Do!

My mum needed an extraction, she was in pain and had to wait six weeks for an appointment. She got an infection following the extraction and phoned up to get antibiotics; after finally getting through at lunchtime she was promised a call back....Surprise surprise no one phoned back... At 6:50pm my mum calls back, profuse apologies from girl on reception, dentist has now gone home and she will telephone tomorrow morning with an appt. She is in pain and appalled at lack of care. It was a difficult extraction and aftercare is abysmal. Calling nhs 111 in desperation to be told emergency dentist now closed, so nowhere to get antibiotics from tonight. Disgusting treatment of an elderly patient.

Disappointed with attitude I was unable to attend an couple of appointments before covid due to illness and one due to loss of my mum when contacted to rearrange refused to make me appointment never made aware of problem not concerned about my situation and had previously paid for missing appointments also asked for private work but refused. And they cancelled my appointments with short notice on several occasions. Not a professional practice

Just been told that the dental work I received here when I was younger was done to an awful standard. Edit: Crown was placed incorrectly leading to the tooth decaying underneath it, required complete rebuilding of the tooth. Nerve tissue was left in a tooth after a root canal leading to discolouration of the tooth, also required completely redoing. Never made any effort to straighten teeth. Avoid at all costs.
