Chelwood Dental Practice

Dentist closed for a while for some unknown reason and voicemails left to ring me back to change appointment. They never did ring back. When I did get in touch with them, they've marked me as missed appointment and said if I re arrange appointment as i suffer badly with cold sores and had 1 at the time that they would terminate me at the practice. I pay for treatment getting receipts off them is difficult. Not very helpful. Ive rang twice in the last 24 hours and still no return phone call.

Recently had a routine check-up with the newest dentist (sorry I don’t know her name!) and she is definitely one of the best dentists I’ve had. She was efficient and communicated clearly - way better than previous dentists where I’ve been confused about what’s going on. She solved something I’d had concerns about for awhile and was ignored / not investigated by other dentists the past 2 years. She booked me in for a filling on the same day to get it all sorted. Very impressed ! Receptionists are always kind, approachable and helpful. This practice only loses a star due to the appearance (building needing a makeover) & the stairs leading in were quite dusty. However, due to this dentist taking on many NHS patients it’s understandable there’s not extra cash for appearances.

Had a great experience at the practice. Attended an appointment for a clean/check up. Confirmed I would likely need a filling and was able to book an appointment straight away at reception for a couple of weeks after. Received lots of reminders which was helpful. Attended my appointment and both my dentist and assistant were very warm and friendly, explaining everything and putting me at ease. The procedure was really quick and I’m really happy with my composite filling, can hardly tell it is there! Highly recommend!

I found them to be excellent. The appointments are kept to time and the service is first class. Definitely recommend them

Just been today and treated with the usual professional and courteous first class service. Reception staff, kind and attentive and the Dentist himself is extremely caring and explained treatment required in a very easy to understand way. I have been at this Dental Pactise for over thirty years since the days of Dr Sampson and the latest staff are up there with him.

As many have said I been with practice for years. The dentist we had that took over the practice was dreadful.She was too heavy handed and hurt! Fast forward to the new fella I saw yesterday (forgot his name) he was brilliant! No pain whilst cleaning my teeth and I went home and drank a hot drink no problem. Credit where its due he was excellent and he staying at the chelwood practice , I asked him!

Appalling treatment of a longstanding patient who’s currently struggling with mental health problems and under a crisis team. Had treatment 6 weeks previous and needed to return for a follow up. Couldn’t make the appointment due to ill health so rescheduled. Still not well enough to make it in so tried ringing for hours to cancel appointment but nobody answers the phones. Left a voice message but conveniently nobody listens to them. Eventually got through after appointment, to be told account will now be suspended. No accountability for how this could affect their patients welfare. Absolutely no care or consideration for the consequences. Even after a complaint to the practice manager and an email from the mental health team, there has been no reply or explanation. What an absolute joke NHS dentistry has become. God forbid anyone should start to struggle in life and need a bit of understanding and empathy. Hopefully they never hit a bad patch in life and get treated with the same contempt.
