Newby Dental Practice - Emergency / Private / Dentist Scarborough

I got a last minute new patient exam which was great. I was greeted by two very lovely ladies on reception. I saw AJ (with a dental nurse, I can’t remember her name but she was great) and he was very factual and reassuring with a very thorough exam. He created a plan for me, showed me exactly how much it will cost etc, and gave me advice I never have had from other dental surgeries! They also managed to get me in for a hygienist appointment literally 7 minutes after my original appt end time. The hygienists I saw were amazing and so gentle and reassuring (hands down the best and least painful cleaning I’ve had done). All in all a great experience being a very nervous person with my teeth. Pleased that I will now be using them as my dentist, thank you so much.

What is the policy for changing dentists within the practice. My wife and I had Kate until she left. We were given a new dentist by the practice without any consultation. Unfortunately we don't feel as comfortable with this dentist and have requested a different dentist. It's seems like the practice is putting up barriers to stop this. This policy will probably end up with us leaving. A shame really because otherwise we have found it a good practice.

Had an emergency bridge repair today as an unregistered patient which was a huge relief. The receptionist Claire was so kind and helpful, very knowledgeable and reassuring - a huge thank you to her. The dentist was super kind ( I'm terrified of dentists ) and fixed me up in no time and patiently explained all my options. Cannot recommend this practice highly enough.

I have had no problems with the Dentists at Newby Dental Practice. My Particular Dentist has always been kind, re assuring and helpful. I don’t feel judged or uneasy around them. Although getting to my complaint, this would be that the receptionists do not give you a warm welcome, make you feel at ease or even wanted in the practice. A couple times after treatment they just put the card machine in front of your face. They don’t tell you how much the cost of the visit is, or if the treatment went well. I have been a patient at this practice for over four years now and usually someone who would just take things on the chest. I am not wanting a red carpet to be rolled out. Is asking for at least a friendly welcoming and inviting setting asking to much? I believe that should be the first step in a customer facing environment. Without this some patients will not want to return.

Beware! For 3 years i was told i would need work on my 2 upper front teeth as they are damaged by night time teeth grinding. Not once in that time was a night guard recommended to reduce damage done and prolong teeth life. Soon as I have composite bonding done im toId i need a night guard protect my bonding from damage and charged nearly £90 more. If this dire dentist had recommended night guard 3 years ago I wouldn't be hundreds of pounds out of pocket for composite bonding i could have avoided. Seems dentist profits come before patients teeth!!

Had dentures..everything was explained before procedure. I was told I would be awake under sedation but I wasn't (totally knocked out)..can't remember even getting in the car, even my husband questioned dentist at the state of me. No communication till 2 weeks later.asking me to go for hygiene check up. My gums were so sore I couldn't go. 2 months later no communication I've been left with part teeth in gums and part tooth left in bottom jaw.and over sized dentures that keep blistering my gums. Not ever going back cost just over 4k in total so disappointed after initially good first experience..I had to go elsewhere to try and get sorted and still on going, costing a fortune to sort

I have just received the best dental treatment from Dr Philip Allamby . I have wanted to improve my smile for a number of years and Phil has made my dream come true this morning. He is superb at his job, a truly gifted master and I cannot thank him enough. Everybody at Newby Dental Practice are all amazing, so friendly and helpful. Thank you all so much for making me want to smile again x
