Durham Family Dental | Gateshead

I’ve been attending Durham Family Dental for over two years and the service is always excellent. I’ve historically not had great experiences at other dentists, so I can be quite nervous about appointments. Contrastingly, everyone here is incredibly patient, accommodating, and understanding, which has really helped put me at ease. Laura, my dentist, is always reassuring, professional, and pleasant, taking the time to explain everything and help calm my nerves. I also had an appointment with Lucy, the hygienist, today, and she was lovely, thorough, and full of useful advice that I found really helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this practice, especially to anyone who feels anxious about visiting the dentist.

As always our experience at Durham Family Dental are first class. All staff are helpful and caring. Procedures are explained fully, as are costs. Nothing seems to be a problem for them. The receptionists are so helpful. We cannot fault the care we get from Steph and her team.

My visit to my dental hygienist Durham Family Dental in Low Fell on Friday 5th June 2026 was a very thorough and comprehensive process from my initial examination through to finishing with the cleaning process. Lucy and her assistant Megan put me at ease straight away and explained the process they would proceed with in detail. Once it was all completed Lucy gave me excellent and relevant advice on how to improve my daily brushing and flossing routine. Lucy and Megan were very professional and as such I would have no hesitation in recommending them and Durham Family Dental to my family and friends.

I had an amazing experience at Durham Family Dental. I hadn’t been to the dentist in four years so was pretty apprehensive going it. In the past I would always avoid going. My new patient appointment with Steph was great. She made me feel at ease straight away, and talked me through everything and explained clearly what would need doing. Steph clearly really cares about her patients. I went back the following week for two fillings with Sam and Alex. I’d never had fillings before and was stressing all week going into it! However, once again they did an amazing job at making me feel relaxed, and explained what was happening throughout the whole process. It all went smoothly and I barely felt a thing. Going back next week for a hygiene appointment with Sam and Alex, which they very kindly arranged for me during the fillings appointment. This just shows again how much the staff care about their patients. Overall I’m really happy, and wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I visited Durham Family Dental this week. I’m a new patient and my appointment with Laura was superb, I was able to see a 3D image of my teeth and bone, and a plan was put in place. Next I saw Sam the dental hygienist, ably assisted by dental nurse Gill. My condition was outlined, and my treatment plan was explained incredibly clearly using a range of state of the art technology. Sam gave me the tools to improve my oral health and I left feeling hopeful about the future outcome. All staff encountered were incredibly professional, and staff on reception were really helpful. I only wish that I had found the practice sooner.

I recently became a patient at this practice & I needed an extensive lot of work done, I can’t thank Niall & Shauner enough for today’s treatment 12/11/25 as well as other dental nurse assistants whom have attended alongside Niall at my appointments. Naill is very thorough & makes every treatment a calming experience & the nurses are super efficient. I also must mention Ruben Martinez who carried out root canal treatment which again was done with care & efficiency. I have been undergoing treatment since September & the whole experience with the practice has been informative & as I mentioned efficient, I must include the ladies on reception too, polite & keep reminders up to date. Had an appointment for a filling with Sam and Gill from the team. They were both amazing and put me at ease throughout the appointment. Would definitely recommend the practice as the staff are all lovely and professional.
