Stert Street Dental Surgery

3.1

Address in Abingdon offers dental services with a history of reliability, though recent operational challenges have impacted patient experiences. While the clinical team remains professional and approachable, administrative inconsistencies—such as appointment cancellations and record management—have raised concerns. Transparency in cost structures, particularly for treatments like deep cleans, is an area needing improvement to align expectations with fees.

The practice’s shift from NHS to private care and occasional delays in scheduling reflect broader systemic strains. Despite these hurdles, the friendly demeanor of staff and willingness to address issues suggest a foundation for recovery. Potential patients should clarify treatment pricing upfront and verify record accessibility when considering relocation.

Just terrible. I had no problems pre-2020, but during covid they cancelled 3 appointments in a row, which was understandable. What wasn’t understandable is that they then moved me off the nhs record to private because I hadn’t been for 2 years (they had cancelled the most recent appointment due to ‘their system being down’ which would have been within 2 years. Since then I had my first fling and requested white (and paid for) but it seems grey and they left the tooth sharp. In all fairness on this side, the dentist and dental nurse are very friendly, and did say to come back if any problems. What’s the biggest problem is their receptionist, following the Covid/moving from nhs problems where she really was so unhelpful (almost computer says no). I called today to see if I could get a more convenient appointment, and was advised nothing for 3 months and even then at 09:45 at the earliest. I then asked what’s the process of moving, which she responded "if you move we’ll delete your records as we won’t give that to the new dentist". It’s a shame as pre-2020 they were great and I do like to support independents.

Had an appointment yesterday and was advised I needed a deep clean of my teeth which I agreed to. Nobody mentioned to me that this would take me into Band 2 of costs for treatment and my shock when they asked me for over £73 for the treatment. I have only ever paid around £26. If you are doing a treatment, then you need to let people know if it takes them into a different band. I am pretty angry about this. This is an extraordinary charge for teeth cleaning.

Myself and my little girl went to the dentist today. Despite my worries about my little girls teeth kim was very reassuring and gave me so much information. Everyone is so lovely in the practice and im so lucky to have an amazing dentist. X

Perfect dental surgery in Abingdon town centre. Took my eldest boy 4 years to be brave enough to sit in her chair, even after regular trips to the surgery....Kim was the most patient of people and so kind....and it was obvious she was over the moon when she finally managed to coax our son into her chair for a check-up. We moved away from the area but still use this dentist as I wouldn't ever want to change. The receptionist is so lovely and helpful and always remembers to send a reminder card through the post. Can now pay by card and cash as computer system now in place.

I arrived 8 mins late and the receptionist’s attitude was awful and appalling. She told me that I’ve missed my appointment and that I’ll have to rebook onto another one. Although it was still technically my slot, there was already someone in the dentist room being seen. She didn’t once ask me where I was coming from or the reason for arriving slightly late. I’m really disappointed by the service and the lack of understanding and sympathy coming from the receptionist. I have made the effort to come all the way from Oxford for this and it was definitely not worth it. Definitely not going again.

Very professional and high standards of hygiene. Went in for a couple of fillings. Right amount of "numbing" was used, quick, efficient and painless just what I was hoping for. Excellent dentist. Definitely would recommend 👌🏻👌🏻

I was advised by the nhs website to contact This dentist for an emergency appointment, I rang them, all I got from the receptionist was " there are no dentists here" then she put the phone down on me. BAD ATTITUDE
